Alex Jones, wearing a body cam, speaks on a megaphone before starting a fight with protesters on the second day of the 2016 Republican National Convention in downtown Cleveland. Jones called the protesters a bunch of socialists and then walked into a group standing on the steps, which began a shoving match, and when one protesters swung at Jones, the chief of police grabbed Jones' fist as he tried to swing back. Some members of the crowd were armed with loaded guns.

Anti-Trump protesters held signs against United States president elect Donald Trump, and his running mate vice president elect Mike Pence. The protesters who ranged from muslims, Black Lives Matter activists, members of the LGBTQ community, and others, are angry about the policies proposed by Trump, and that he was not elected by the popular vote, but will be elected by the electoral college. Seven protesters were arrested during the march, and at one point police used rubber bullets and pepper balls against marchers while running through the group on horseback. Police later gave an order to disperse, and protesters continued to protest at the Indianapolis Circle Center near the Indiana Statehouse where Mike Pence served as Indiana governor. Two police officers were slightly injured by protesters throwing rocks.
