Since 2016, she’s taught photography and filmmaking to youth with Reel Grrls, Coyote Central, the Northwest Film Forum, the Seattle International Film Festival and The Everyday Projects. She is also a part-time journalism lecturer at the University of Washington.

In 2013, as a Digital Media Work Scholar at Aperture Foundation, she managed the Foundation’s social media presence and supported the relaunch of Aperture Magazine. Jovelle graduated with a degree in political science from Rutgers University in New Jersey, where she served as editor-in-chief and photography editor of The Daily Targum, the nation’s second-oldest college newspaper.
