Corinna Kern is a German photojournalist and documentary photographer based in Israel.
Inclined towards the counter-cultural and non-mainstream, her work gives intimate insights into people’s lives on the margins of society. Capturing the humanity behind their nonconformist choices, Corinna's candid photography proposes a challenge to preconceived notions. Coming from a background of video editing at one of Germany’s major TV stations “WDR”, Corinna fully devoted herself to her passion by taking up a Master in Photojournalism at the University of Westminster in London in 2012. Upon completion of her studies with distinction in 2013, she was selected for a mentorship with Getty Images Reportage, followed by the Getty Images Reportage Emerging Talent Award in 2014. She based herself in South Africa for two years in order to extensively work on personal long-term projects. In 2016 she relocated to Israel where she continues to focus on people and communities of diverse cultures and backgrounds while working for international publications and photo agencies.
Her work has been exhibited at photo festivals worldwide and gained international recognition through prestigious photo contests, such as Pictures Of The Year International, NPPA Best of Photojournalism, Sony World Photography Awards, International Photography Awards, Lensculture Awards, Photolucida Critical Mass, among others.
Her publications and clients include The New York Times, The Washington Post, Stern, Spiegel, Bloomberg, CNN, Vice, Magazine du Monde, Marie Claire, Die Zeit, The Guardian, and many others. Corinna is represented by LAIF agency and is available for assignments worldwide.
