REFUGEE RESCUE IN THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA
The Central Mediterranean route is the world's deadliest migration route. Of the estimated 3,080 people that have died or gone missing while trying to reach Europe by sea via the three Mediterranean routes until end of November 2017, over 94% of deaths have occurred from North Africa to Italy, according to UNHCR. This reportage documents a rescue mission onboard the Italian rescue vessel 'VOS Hestia', used by the NGO Save the Children.
