I am Khatia Nikabadze, a documentary photographer and filmmaker from Georgia, South Caucasus. With a background in philosophy and educational psychology, over the years, I’ve worked in private and public schools across Tbilisi and remote mountainous villages, teaching Georgian language to Azerbaijani students, tutoring, and supporting students with special needs. From 2019 to 2021, I dedicated myself to documentary photography, living in Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti. My work explores themes of cultural heritage, community, and identity, highlighting the lives of Azerbaijani minorities and Doukhobors. In those years, I documented their everyday lives as well as their special days—holidays, rituals, customs, and traditions. My photos have participated in a number of international and local competitions and exhibitions.
Now I am raising my first child, Niko.
