About

Hi! I am a Canadian storyteller living in Brooklyn.

For 9 years, I worked for The New York Times
Recently I moved to a new role with Instagram, the platform I've been using to tell stories for nearly 4 years.
I'm now working on @design, a new account that tells stories about global design. Follow along.

My most recent NYT work involved:
- Curating and writing for @nytimes, an account I launched and grew to 4.4 million followers
-Telling fun stories on Flashback, or @nytarchives, an Instagram account about archival photography
- Experiments in off-platform storytelling: Instagram Stories (see most of them here)
-Guiding Instagram strategy for Times Instagram accounts, including @nytcooking, @nytmag, @nytgender and @nytimesfashion
-Sharing Times photography across other social platforms, primarily Facebook and Twitter
-Training journalists on strategies to tell visual stories. (In March 2018 I spent a week in Peru with our world traveler.)
-Working on side projects like Being Women: Poetry and Imagery and America Today, in Vision and Verse

I also wrote about photography, most often for the Lens blog, where I was the producer from 2010-2012.
I spent about a year and a half in Hong Kong as a photo editor and researcher for the International Herald Tribune
In New York, I've also worked as a photo editor on the Metro desk and nytimes.com.

I'm a graduate of the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and Queen's University, where I spent a year in a castle.
I'm also a proud alum of the Queen's Journal.
