JENNIFER KOONS is a foreign policy reporter, a former foreign correspondent in the Middle East and a national security editor.
She is a contributor for THE ATLANTIC and THE WASHINGTON POST, among other publications. She is the creator and author of "OUR WOMEN IN THE WORLD," a weekly newsletter that brings to the forefront the untold stories of the women who have shaped and are shaping modern diplomacy.
A Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting grantee, her reporting has focused on diplomacy, global security and the humanitarian implications of migration, political participation, corruption and women's health.
Previously, she wrote and oversaw coverage of global affairs, national security and intelligence issues for the Economist's CQ. Her work has also appeared in THE NEW YORK TIMES, SALON, HUFFINGTON POST AND FOREIGN POLICY, among other publications. She's an adjunct lecturer for Northwestern graduate students specializing in politics and national security and previously taught undergraduate journalism students at Northwestern's campus in Doha, Qatar.
