Transpose Zakarpattia
Summary
The life and impact of internally displaced in Zakarpattia, one of the poorest regions of Ukraine.
As a border area, Zakarpattia has historically endured social and economic challenges, now further exacerbated by the ongoing refugee crisis. Despite its remote location, families and local authorities are hosting people fleeing the war, creating anxiety about how to manage this sudden influx. Concerns stem not only from economic and social strains but also from the psychological burden of facing the possibility that they might one day become displaced.
Though the war itself has not reached the region, its consequences are deeply felt. The conflict is already reshaping Zakarpattia’s social landscape, testing its resilience amid uncertainty.
