Â· Don Ezequiel Mora poses in Â front of one of the classroom after a conversation in which he seemed enthusiastic that his son was still alive, hopeful that wherever he was, even if it was a military compound or working on the amapola fields of one of the drug traffickers, he woudl be safe. Alexander Mora, his son, was the first to be "oficially" found in a dumpster where supposedly the boys where incinerated, only leaving as evidence a bone belonging to him as confirmed by Argentinian experts investigating the case. Don Ezequiel, along with the other parents doubt the results.Â

The shields of the other 16 teaching schools are seen with the symbolic representation of elements that each region is known for. Ayotzinapa means in nahuatl " River of turtles".Â

La primera estructura arquitectÃ³nica que se observa al bajar forma parte de la regiÃ³n llamada La Gloria. Bus of the company Golden Star...ealizo en la ciudad de Tixtla.

Bus of the company Golden Star used by the students in the night of the 14th of december that took them to Chilpancingo, 30 minutes away from the school, for putting temporary fences around a region that needed to be blocked for a concert to create awareness of the situation. While putting the fences, federal police that were staying in a local motel and were drunk attatcked the unarmed students and the bus driver breaking the glasses of the bus and hitting them. The students called for help and the conflict escalated into a all night conflict with several harmed people on both sides. The concert was postponed for a couple of hours and it was held in Tixtla, instead of Chilpancingo.Â

CamiÃ³n de la empresa Estrella de Oro, utilizado por los alumnos en la madrugada del 14 de diciembre, cuando fueron a colocar vallas para el concierto Â´Una Luz para AyotzinapaÂ´ en la ciudad de Chilpancingo, a 20 minutos de la escuela, se encuentra estacionado en la escuela la maÃ±ana siguiente. Los alumnos y los conductores fueron agredidos por los Federales en esa madrugada, Â lo que desatÃ³ un conflicto que resulto en varias agresiones y lastimados de ambos lados. El concierto tuvo que ser postergado unas horas y se realizo en la ciudad de Tixtla.

Field where the first year students do their farming practices. Many of the students had preference for this activity over other such as political or cultural studies since most of them come from rural regions. With the absence of classes the fields were semi-abandoned for several months since there wasnt enough people to look after it.Â

Muchos alumnos del 1er aÃ±o tenÃan preferencia por estas actividades en comparaciÃ³n a otras como las de estudios polÃticos o de actividades culturales, ya que es un lugar conocido para varios, dadas sus procedencias campesinas.Â Con la ausencia de los estudiantes, el campo se ha dejado de trabajar y no se ha cultivado nada. El cuidado de los animales, a su vez, aun se sigue dando.

The Onion, as he is known my his colleagues, was present in the shooting in which his roomate JosÃ© Angel Campos was kidnapped by police forces. Â·Uriel was one of the few second year students who joined the first year students in the activities of the 26th of september 2014. He was at the front of the conflict and saw the exact moment when his fellow student Daniel Solis Gallardo was struck by a bullet fired by the police. In the door to his balcony hangs a photograph of Jorge Alexis Herrera, a studen that was murdered in 2011 by police alongside Gabriel Echeverria de Jesus while they occupied the highway that connects Mexico to Acapulco demanding an audition with the mayor who had ignored them several times. They wanted to reinstate clases that had been suspended due to the fact that the mayor wanted to put a new principal and the teachers along with the students did not accept him since he was a well known corrupt man.

Â·Uriel, fue uno de los Ãºnicos alumnos de segundo aÃ±o que estuvo acompaÃ±ando a los alumnos del 1er aÃ±o en la actividad de boteo ese 26 de septiembre de 2014. Estuvo en frente en el conflicto y vio justo cuando mataron a su compaÃ±ero Daniel SolÃs Gallardo. Como es parte del comitÃ© estudiantil, goza de privilegios y tiene una recamara para si propio en uno de los edificios mas modernos de la escuela. Tiene un recorte la revista processo, en la que se ve el alumno Jorge Alexis Herrera assesinado por la policia en la Autopista del Sol que conecta Mexico D.F a Acapulco durante una actividad de bloqueo de las mismas para llamar la atenciÃ³n del gobernador quien los habia dejado plantado varias veces y para pedir que las clases se reactivaran despues que los maestros se paralizaron al saber que iban a poner un nuevo director corrupto en 2011. Uriel sufre de depresion pos traumatica y no han ofrecido apoyo psicologico a los alumnos.Â

La Normal Rural de Ayotzinapa

At the end of november of 2014 I took a trip with reporter Carol Pires from Piaui magazine in Brazil to understand more in depth what was happening in the state of Guerrero in context with what happened in Iguala on the tragic night of the 26th of september with the students from the Normal Rural de Ayotzinapa School. We spent three days, talking to students and parents. In mid December I returned with journalist Heriberto Paredes from Agencia Subversiones and spent four more days with the students, camping with other journalists in the dormitory-changing room next to the pool, home of 4th-year student, Yoni. This selection of images showcase the home and learning center of the the 560 ( minus the ones killed and dissapeared in the past 3 years) students who are in the process of becoming teachers, soon to be the ones to educated children in the most remote areas of Mexico.

+ A selection of images was published in Brazilian magazine Piaui website in January 2015. In September 26th, 2015 in the one year anniversary of the dissapearance in the students, the Mexican online newspaper Horizontal.mx published the gallery:
