Lucas Leo Catalano (b.1985), photographer of multinational heritage based between Australia, Indonesia, and Italy. Working in the documentary tradition while embracing subjectivity and relative readings. First photographing during teenage years to then intern at the photojournalism agency GraffitiPress. Graduating into spot and community news photography in Europe, South East Asia, and Oceania. Followed by more studies in Visual Communication at the Istituto Europeo di Design. Becoming a type-designer until returning to photography after the COVID-19 pandemic. Shortlisted at the Australian Photocollective Documentary Awards, Australasian Photobook Dummy Awards, and Contemporary Landscapes in Photograpy Prize. Nominated for the Sovereign Asian Arts Fund and Harry Gruyaert's Trieste Photofestival grant.
