Lucas Leo Catalano is a photographer of multinational heritage based between Australia, Indonesia, and Italy. Working on long term projects of personal and contemporary importance, exploring globalised identities, post-colonialism, and the roles emotions play in current affairs. First photographing during teenage years to then study photojournalism at the GraffitiPress School in Italy. Graduating into spot and community news photography work. Followed by more studies in Visual Communication at the Istituto Europeo di Design. Becoming a type-designer until returning to photography after the COVID-19 pandemic. Shortlisted at the Australian Photocollective Documentary Awards, Australasian Photobook Dummy Awards, and Contemporary Landscapes in Photograpy Prize. Nominated for the Sovereign Asian Arts Fund and Harry Gruyaert's Trieste Photofestival grant.
