Lucila Ramos is a Mexican artist and storyteller, in her photography explores issues of feminine identity, focusing on art, culture, human rights, and gender violence. She graduated in Communication Sciences from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa.
Since 2009 she has been portraying women in anthropological projects and has worked in editorial and fashion photography. In her series of portraits: 'Women of Light,' she developed for three years, an ethnographic project with women of Mexican ethnic roots. Since 2018 she has been working with young activist women in a long-term project called 'It Was Not a Dream' where she approaches the issue of male violence in different cities of Mexico.
Lucila has collaborated with UN WOMEN in a book for ‘Spotlight’ a global initiative to fight gender violence. They try to raising awareness of Government Officials in charge of dealing with cases of violence against women, teenagers and girls, in the cities with the highest number of murdered women in Mexico, Her work has been featured in Mexico and The United States, Resplandor Art Gallery in Oaxaca, and San Mateo County History Museum, in California. She has also worked with Reforma Newspaper, Noroeste Newspaper, Televisa Editorial, IPN (National Polytechnic Institute.) Galeria Hispánica Contemporanea, Aduanas Magazine, Infinito Editorial, a! Diseño Magazine, and some of the most important fashion agencies in Mexico, City. She has published in L’ESPRESSO Magazine Italia, ONU Mujeres, Spotlight Iniciative, L’OFFICIEL, Arabia. Cuartoscuro Magazine, Art book, ‘Departure’ Xavier Mascaro Saatchi Gallery, Canal 40.
