The Patum Festival
"La Patum" is a traditional festival that has been celebrated since medieval times
in the Catalan city of Berga during the Corpus Christi.
In 2005 UNESCO declared it a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible
Heritage of Humanity
The festival consists of a series of "dances" performed by townspeople dressed as mystical and
symbolical figures accompanied by a drum or a band.
The dances are marked by the use of fire and pyrotechnics.
