Tomas Mantilla is a documentary photographer born in Bogota, Colombia. In 2015, after assisting the American photographer Stephen Ferry and before moving to NYC he traveled to the United Kingdom for six months to study English. While there he assisted a VII photos workshop in Barcelona. He moved to New York City to study Visual Journalism and Documentary Practice at the International Center of Photography. During his year at the ICP he focused on the criminal justice system and New York notorious jail, Rikers Island. He plans to keep working on issues of social concer and to return to Colombia to work on the post-conflict reality that is expected in the country. He is currently based in between New York and Bogotá.
