About
Mariela Sancari (b. 1976) is an Argentine photographer based in Mexico City
since 1997 working for Reforma Newspaper. She publishes in the Travel,
Fashion, Food, Kids and Cultural sections of the newspaper.
Her personal work has been exhibited in collective and solo shows in Mexico
City, Buenos Aires and Barcelona. She is very interested in everyday life, its unnoticed
magic behind the most ordinary events and things.
Her most recent series called “Yo me quiero casar” ( I want to get married)
shows wedding cake dolls very commonly used in Mexico to represent the
couple about to be married in a way that its tenderness and beauty is exposed.
It is also a tribute to the Mexican spirit of celebration.
She is currently working in her next major series project.
