I have always been hugely inspired by spaces that are characterized by a lack of individuality and character and this reflects in my artistic work of the past decade. Spaces such as empty corners in office buildings, waiting areas at airports or abandoned corridors of hotels I find enormously fascinating. Due to a lack of distinctive features, it seems to be difficult for people to feel connected to these locations. These empty spaces and abandoned locations do not seem to invoke strong emotions and therefore leave no impression in our memory. Even though these spaces seem invisible, I feel a strong attraction to this emptiness. Therefore, I am always looking for a way to make a connection to these void spaces, with the aim of giving these locations special features and making their true identity visible. Visible as if I stripped the space of its outer layers and showed its true core. My photo-works, objects and installations are a representation of this.
