Wisconsin State Capitol
Madison, WI
1/18/2025
It’s a bitterly cold January day in Madison, WI. With Donald Trump’s election to a second term as president of the United States, people around the country have once again taken to the streets to make their voices heard.
Citizens have gathered for the 2025 People’s March, a rebranding of the Women’s March. Since 2017, the Women’s March has been an annual event to bring national attention to gender equality and abortion rights and to speak out against the blatant misogyny former President Trump brought to the White House and empowered millions of racists and bigots to show their intolerance towards anyone not straight and white, allowing them to spew their hatred for all to see and hear.
In Madison, a city known for its long history of activism and left-of-center political and non-political organizations, a coalition from these groups came together to organize the 2025 People’s March Madison. Guided by a belief that the path forward is through empowering the people to control their lives and not have them controlled by millionaires and billionaires, who are so out of touch with those below them that they cannot adequately serve the majority of the country. This includes those from both the democratic and republican parties alike--neither serve the people, only their corporate, capitalist overlords in the oligarchy.
