Myriam Meloni (b. 1980 in Cagliari) is an italian photographer actually based in Barcelona, Spain.
Law degree from the University of Bologna, specializing in criminology and penal execution in the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
She approaches to photography completing the three-years-course in Fotografic Institut de Catalunya (IEFC). After moving to Argentina, she specializes in photojournalism and documentary in the Association of Graphic Reporters of Argentina (ARGRA) and participates to severals workshops.
She has been focusing her work in social contemporary issue, with a very intimate approach.
In 2010 she received the award for best portfolio in the 4th Biennial of Photography Documentary Tucumán and is selected for the review of Transatlantic Portfolios section of Photoespaña in Managua. In 2011 she is candidate for the Joop Swart Masterclass in the World Press Photo and selected for projections of new authors of Photon Festival in Valencia. In 2013 she is finalist at the Sony awards.
Her work has been exhibited in galleries and on photo festivals worldwide: she has had solo exhibitions at the photo gallery of the Teatro San Martin (Fragile, Buenos Aires, 2011) and in the legislature of Buenos Aires in 2012.
Collectively in the Gallery Forma, in Milan; Teatro Lliure in Barcelona; under the SevillaFoto Festival; in the gallery "Officine Fotografiche", in Roma; under the Photoespaña at the Instituto Cervantes, in Madrid, 2011; In Su Palatu, Sardinia as part of the exhibition of young Sardinian photographer during the Menotrentuno_03 European young photojournalist festival. Her work Fragile is part of the author's Book Fair presented during the Biennial of photography in Lima and has been declared of social and cultural interest by the government of Buenos Aires.
She is currently working as a freelance photojournalist and collaborating with various national and internacional media.
