Asafo, a secret society of warriors in charge of protecting their village. From the Western Togo Land, bordering on Togo and Ghana, these once influential militias, now mostly only hunters, still command respect. Thiers symbolic war songs, traditional drumming, and animal sacrifices are performed during ceremonies in their honour. They are armed with powder guns, knives, axes, catapults, and spiritual amulets.
