Albania's Vjosa river declared Europe's first Wild River National Park

Today Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, signed a declaration establishing the Vjosa as Europe's first Wild River National Park, a truly historic moment for the country, and a major win for American outdoor company Patagonia, and activists who have been campaigning for over a decade to protect the river. This was an incredible moment to witness, and capped off over six years of work documenting the Vjosa, and following the work of the scientists, NGOs and locals who have been fighting to stop development of hydropower dams and other harmful development on the river.
