Young Photographer Award 2025
The Young Photographer Award is an educational initiative designed for passionate emerging photographers aiming for a career in documentary photography or photojournalism. The award winner receives an intensive Mentorship Programme, offering a unique opportunity to enhance their skills through a dedicated bootcamp course and develop a documentary photography project under the guidance of an industry professional. The photographic works produced during the mentorship are subsequently exhibited in our annual photography exhibition hosted in Kampala.

Brief & Application Procedure
RULES & SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
This contest is open to Ugandan citizens between 21 and 28 years of age.To apply, please submit the following in English:
- Motivation Letter: A letter of at least 200 words explaining your interest and passion.
- Project Proposal: A concept note of at least 400 words for a documentary or other photography project you wish to complete. Your proposed subject should be noteworthy and original, or offer a fresh perspective on an existing idea.
- Portfolio: 20 JPEG images that showcase your photographic skill, approach, and interests. While there are no strict technical quality restrictions, please submit your best quality images.
- One proposal per photographer will be considered. If multiple submissions are received from a single photographer, only the first one will be reviewed.
- All images must have accurate and informative captions in English. Captions should include:
- A description of the subjects and action within the photograph.
- The location where the picture was taken.
- The date the photo was made.- Contextual information for elements not visible in the frame (e.g., "a scene of walking pilgrims").
Application Process & Deadlines
All submissions must be uploaded via the entry website by July 7th, 2025.A jury will review all applications and select one winner and two runners-up. The selected individuals will be invited to participate in the 2026 Mentorship Programme.
Please Note: Any direct communication with judges regarding the judging process will lead to disqualification.
