Public Project
[Performance] Uli & Ottie, by Samantha Tiussi
Summary
Performance by Samantha Tiussi, at Ackerstadtpalast, Berlin 2024.
This performance is about using your imagination to create a different world.
The show is divided in 5 short stories, and and our final story explores how society tries to shape us into predetermined forms.
Everyone is expected to fit in a box.
Even if you autistic, you should look like one - “oh, you don’t look autistic”.
This isn't just about neurodiversity - it's about being alive, existing in this realm.
Society often tries to standardize us, to push us into neat, manageable categories, discarding those who don't fit. Those who don't fit these prescribed shapes often find themselves pushed to the margins.
But life isn't meant to be a collection of identical shapes put into boxes. We're a diverse array of forms, each unique and valuable. When we try to force everyone into the same shape, we lose the beauty and strength that comes from our varied experiences and perspectives, and create strange creatures molded by force, broken, transformed into something they are not.
Breaking free from these imposed shapes is about personal liberation. It's about creating a world that celebrates all forms of diversity. It's about recognizing that there's no one "right" shape to be human, to think, to love, or to exist.
"Sei einzigartig" (Be unique) - We invite you to join us in imagining and creating a world where every shape, every color, every way of being is valued and respected.
