Zsófia Pályi is a photographer and multimedia journalist, based in Budapest, Hungary. She has received several prizes at the Hungarian Press Photo Competition including the Grant for best achievement in photojournalism under the age of 30. She has won the Pécsi Fine Art Photography Grant, Hungarian state scholarship, two times. Her photos have been purchased internationally, by the New York Times, Vice Uk, Al Jazeera, Marie Claire Arabia and The Sunday Guardian. Recently she has just won the Grand Prize at PhotoPort 2013 international portfolio review in Budapest and has been nominated among 142 young photographers to be considered for the 2014 Joop Swart Masterclass organized by World Press Photo.

She received her bachelor`s degree in photography from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest in 2010. Earlier she has received her Master's Degrees at the Department of Media and Communication and Department of Portuguese Language at Eötvös Loránd University. 

She is a staff photojournalist at Origo, the leading online news portal of Hungary. Besides, she has assignments for Marie Claire and Forbes magazines in Hungary. She works mainly with portrait and documentary photography, and interested in news, contemporary social issues, and feature multimedia stories. In the recent years, she also focused on African themes, and covered stories in Kenya and Mozambique.
