Michelle Saunders, an Inuk biologist and researcher with the Nunatsiavut government, stands near the shoreline at Basecamp, located near Torngat Mountains National Park. “I take a holistic approach to my research, which means that the land, water, animals and people are interconnected. I don’t study biology for the sake of studying biology,” she continues. “I study what is important to Nunatsiavut communities, like the health of marine life and how it is impacting our food.”
