I've been always interested in changes in world that surrounds me. Any aspects of those changes can be interesting. I live in a country which is full of ongoing processes but I treat them as impulses that drives me to explore more universal picture of how world and people go through them and were those processes can possibly lead.
This project is about the new Poles or maybe post-Poles as well as my view of economical and social changes in Poland. The one who inspired me to begin working on the subject was my cousin and the fact that he is only seven years younger but the generation gap is so strongly highlighted. Aged between 14 and 15. Come from middle-class polish families. Born after overthrowing communism. Raised in the age of the Internet and consumption. Both aware of plenty of opportunities that world is offering them and overwhelmed by enormous numbers of stimuli. This situation causes some kind of state of suspension that can be felt in the background which is also linked with the time of youth and maturation making it even more complicated. It was interesting for me to observe them as indicators of changes as well as explore my own feelings about new world and new generation which is an important part of the project. I wanted the distance between the photographer and those being photographed to be seen. We do not fully understand each other and that's the point I think.
