Nepal is frequently ranked as one of the poorest nations on Earth. Coming from the United States, poverty to me is a mix of depression, anger, hopelessness and the possibility of violence. But I never feel unsafe walking through Kathmandu. Nepolis are aware of their situation but it doesn’t define them.
