My project "REINA, ABDELBAKI, ANITA : Conversations between Buenos Aires, Paris and Oran" just received a production grant by the Centre national des arts plastiques - Cnap the French institution in charge of the support for Contemporary Documentary Photography. It is the first time that I get support from the place of my roots. More to come!
The project became urgent for me in 2019, after years of working on the migratory histories and identities of others.It is a photo essay and a short documentary film as a conversation between 3 territories: Argentina, France and Algeria, intertwining family memories with Algeria's war for its Independence from France between 1954 and 1962 to reflect on colonial pasts and decolonial presents, identities in motion, and create a space for intercultural dialogue.It is based on the story of Reina, my Spanish mother, born and raised in Oran, Algeria, during the war, and on mine, her daughter, who emigrated from France to Argentina 12 years ago.
