Rayna Carruthers is a documentary photographer based in Glasgow, Scotland. Her work has been influenced partly by a lifelong interest in migration, a passion rooted in her grandparents' experience of immigrating to the UK in the 1950s.

Driven by an interest in Arabic, Rayna spent a year in Jordan in 2022, where she learned spoken Arabic. While there, she documented the experiences of refugees awaiting resettlement, deepening her interest in photojournalism as a form of storytelling.

Currently, Rayna is studying Anthropology at the University of Edinburgh, where she continues examining various themes related to migration, gender, violence and identity. Rayna speaks English, and Arabic and can get by in Spanish.
