On the anniversary of the '77 blackout, New York was met with another power outage that lasted 5 hours. The blocks between 40th st up to 70th st on the West side of Manhattan were plunged into darkness. One of the busiest areas of the island for tourism and nightlife saw a decrease in activity and livelihood on a Saturday night, with shows being canceled and traffic diverted.
