The Corpus Christi Monastery is the oldest cloistered convent in the United States and the last remaining of its kind in New York. Located in the Hunts Point area of the Bronx in New York City, the convent has been at the location since 1899, after being invited by Archbishop Michael Augustine Corrigan who requested the presence of a contemplative order of nuns to pray for the Archdiocese of New York.

Being a contemplative order the sisters' vocation is prayer and they spend the majority of their day praying for all the people of the world. Additionally, they spend time in bible study, painting, gardening or walking in the cloistered garden with wonderful view of the new World Trade Center. Cloistered off from the world the sisters rarely leave the grounds unless for medical or other significant reasons.

Even visitors are required to visit on the opposite side of a divided wall when visiting. After several months the sisters allowed me into certain areas of the monestary and permitted me to join them in prayer.
