Rodrigo Cruz was born in Mexico City in 1974.

He studied Visual Arts in National Autonomous University of Mexico. He is a documentary photographer and currently works on issues of environment and migration.
His work has been published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, MSNBC, CNN, The Washington Post, VICE, National Geographic en Español, National Geographic Traveler.

He has collaborated with the NGOs: Mission Mexico, WaterAid, Marie Stopes International, Internet Society, Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, Tlachinollan, Atzin and UNHCR.

Rodrigo Cruz's photographs have been exhibited in France, Canada, Nicaragua, Mexico and South America with the exhibition Laberinto de Miradas: Fricciones y Conflictos en Iberoamérica of Casa America Catalunya and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation Development (AECID).

His photos were included in the book Laberinto de Miradas, a journey through documentary photography in Latin America from RM publishing house; In the book Descubrimientos 2010 PhotoEspaña of LA FABRICA, and in the book Red Bull Illume Award 2010.

Rodrigo Cruz has been an instructor at the Foundry Photojournalism Workshop in Argentina 2011 and Mexico 2017.
