About

Scott Typaldos was born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1977. In 1998, while a film student, he discovered photography which became a necessary articulation of his inner state. In his first years, Scott’s photography was centered around the «diary», a theme he still photographs to this day. During the Spring of 2007, he photographed the oil searchers of the Lambaréné region in Gabon. This unplanned documentary contributed to a change in the manner he linked with the people. Since 2010, he has been extensively photographing and researching the topic of mental illness in his long term project called “Butterflies”. He has won the Proof award grant in 2012, was selected for Foto Espana descubrimientos(2012), won the 3rd place of the PGB Photo awards 2012, and the 4th place of the Photocrati fund 2013. He participated in Carnem’s workshop and its 3rd exhibition in 2012-2013. In May of 2013, his work “Waxed in Black” about funeral

rites in Ghana was exhibited at the Head on Photo Festival in Sidney. In Spring 2013 he entered the Prospekt photo agency. His work “Butterflies Chapter 2” is in the 14th edition of Die Nacht magazine and will be in Su-ture published by Gomma books in 2014. The same work was recently shown at the Delhi Photo Festival and in numerous web magazines (Fstop, Archivo, Doc Photo magazine, L’oeil de la photographie, Burn.)
