Midst of a City (work in progress)
The fishing village of Madh Island lies in the heart of Mumbai, India. Home to a hundred families, this village supplies fishes to all the fish markets in the suburbs. Each night, for seven days, a group of four to six men set 30kms in the Arabian Ocean in a boat. The trade is mostly owned by Koli families who employ families from Bihar and Tamil Nadu to do most of the chores. Men of these families are out in the sea fishing while the women take charge of cleaning and sorting.
