I was born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota during the age of black and white television, Life magazine photo documentaries, and the publication of The Family of Man. These early influences are reflected in my approach to photography. My photographic journey began in 2004 when I graduated from the University of Washington Extension Certificate Program in Photography. I was selected for the Artists Trust EDGE Professional Development Program in 2008 and I was chosen for the Lucie Foundation Mentorship Program E-pprentice Award in 2010. My photography has been exhibited widely in juried competitions and I have won numerous awards, including First Place in the New York Photo Festival Capture Brooklyn exhibition and the 2011 B&W Magazine Portfolio Merit Award. In the past five years, my work has been displayed in over thirty-five juried group exhibitions and in eleven solo exhibitions, including the 2009 Lishui International Photo Festival in China, the 2011 Sixth Ménes-patak International Festival of Photography in Szécsény, Hungary, and the Fifth Annual International Artfoto Festival in Fil'akovo, Slovakia. My prints are in several private collections and in the Lishui Museum of Photography. I am featured in LensWork #97 with a ten-page interview discussing street photography with Brooks Jensen and a portfolio of 20 images from my series Return to New York. I am also featured in LensWork Extended #97 and LensWork Online with a 33 minute video interview and an extended portfolio containing additional images.
