360 Virtual Exhibition
Through a Woman's Lens was produced virtually during the beginning of the COVID pandemic through online preparation and collaboration. In a first for the Meiselas studio team, work for the show was selected and laid out in Zoom meetings. This additionally presented the opportunity to produce the show as an interactive online exhibition space in addition to the in-person exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum.
The viewing experience is fundamentally different online so efforts were made to not just present the work as is but infuse multiple voices into the virtual show for viewers to experience. Exclusive to the virtual format is the opportunity to hear from the artist through newly recorded interviews, the voices of people she photographed, and her collaborators; to examine additional publications and ephemera; and to watch historical films and interviews that provide added context to Meiselas’s work.
