AGENCIA EFE: Hundreds of people demonstrate against migration and crime in northern Chile

Summary
Demonstrations, road blockades and a carrier strike took place in Iquique, in the north of Chile, at the end of January, to protest against the increase in crime, associated by the majority of demonstrators, with irregular migration. For months, hundreds of Venezuelans have been crossing the border between Chile and Bolivia daily through unauthorized crossings, in the commune of Colchane (Chile) at 3,700 meters above sea level, exposing themselves to the extreme weather conditions of the altiplano.
