In Rachel Maddow's new documentary, Andrew Young: The Dirty Work, I am reminded of the courage it took to stand up for justice in an era of civil rights when men like Julian Bond risked brutal consequences to demand change. Bond—co-founder of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, a longtime freedom fighter, a former NAACP chairman- was a longtime crusader who worked tirelessly with Andrew Young- who taught us how to keep showing up for the rights of all people. I wanted to tribute this documentary at a time when we need to remember courageous heroes who risked their lives for freedom
