FINDING GENESIS
Inspired by artists such as Laura McPhee, Langston Bowen, and Judy Dater, this collection of work dives into the ideas of interacting and finding a deeper connection with the natural world. By using techniques such as long exposures and new perspectives, I can capture the essence of humanity and nature intertwined. When photographing people immersed in nature, light plays a key role in how I witness the small and fleeting moments wherein we mimic the wildlife around us. How the waves in a woman’s hair can reflect falling water, or how a whole universe can be held within a pair of glistening eyes. It’s mesmerizing seeing our own similarities to the world we live in but often take advantage of. Just as nature cycles through change and is born again into new life, so are we. We are resilient, we adapt, we are reborn. Mother Nature reflects us in every way, and our connections to her are never ending. Every individual has their own connection to nature whether it be spiritual or therapeutic. You just have to go out and find your own rebirth.
