The Guaranda Carnival is one of Ecuador's major festivals. It takes place approximately between February or March of each year. Guaranda is known for this cultural expression of popular tradition, which has led to its recognition as Ecuador's cultural heritage since 1999.In this carnival, there are several comparsas, traditional dances and the festive air prior to the game with water, powder, flour, streamers, foam, eggs, and other characteristic carnival products, in addition to typical foods and the strong liquor called "blue bird".
