Valérie Berta is an international photographer based in the United States. Born and raised in the South of France, she has a Master's in English from Université Paris VII and in Photojournalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has worked as a photojournalist around the world for a variety of media outlets, from Agence FrancePresse in Paris and Hong Kong, China, to small daily newspapers in the U.S. In 2000 she went on the road with the circus, where she raised their two boys and started a personal documentary project, The Mudshow Diaries, about her life and family in the circus and the life and families of the circus.
Valérie now lives in Columbia, Missouri, where she founded The WE Project, a multimedia series that seeks to shift the narratives around marginalized communities, and the Voices Workshop, a photo workshop for marginalized children. She is available for editorial assignments throughout the United States and Latin America.
