One of my photographs—a quiet, close portrait of a pregnant woman’s belly—was recently published in the newest issue of Mom Egg Review, a literary journal dedicated to motherhood, identity, and the complexities of being.The image is simple at first glance: the soft curvature of a belly, the suggestion of life just beneath the surface. But like much of motherhood, there is more under the surface—anticipation, vulnerability, strength, and the liminal space between two worlds.This photograph came from a portrait session that was never meant to be grand. It was shot at home, in a moment that unfolded slowly and without direction. The resulting image felt honest. Mom Egg Review has long been a home for complex representations of motherhood—messy, radiant, uncertain, brave—and I’m grateful to have a visual voice included in their pages. In a time when bodies are politicized and often commodified, I think a still, respectful image can speak volumes. Photography allows us to hold space, to see without intruding. That’s what I hoped to do here.Thanks to Mom Egg Review for the honor of publication.
