holding, still
I am a hunter and gatherer, a holder of things that bring beauty and nature into my home. Referencing Vanitas and the tradition of the Dutch masters, “holding, still” creates tableaus of these objects, both precious and ordinary, natural and made, corporeal and ephemeral. Time alters the substance and nature of these markers in space and memory. By creating images, I hold on, knowing at some point there will be a letting go.
This series of naturally lit, constructed images is an invitation into this world of silence to contemplate the passage of time, the shift of space and light, and consider the matter of meaning.
This work is presented in limited edition archival digital prints, gallery wrap, and artist book.
