Lex always carries a photo album of his family. His daughter is currently living in South Africa. She has not seen her father for several years.

During the evenings Lex goes to the Starbucks within the Rockefeller Building to paint. It is during this time that he is most happy. He says "I don't care about being homeless or poor, my first priority is training myself to be an artist.â€

In Chinatown Lex can find dinner for around two dollars.
