Puerto Rico: a visual journal since 1997
Summary
Since 1997, Puerto Rican photographer Mariela Alvarez has been documenting her hometown. She revisits her negatives years later and starts printing. Throughout this ongoing visual journal, which provides a glimpse into life in Puerto Rico, the artist also reflects on her life as a Puerto Rican photographer forced to change careers for financial reasons.—Adriana Teresa Letorney, Visura
