Announcing CENTER's Review Santa Fe Photo Symposium 2024

CENTER, the nationally acclaimed non-profit photography organization in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is excited to announce that our world-renowned photography conference, the Review Santa Fe Photo Symposium, will take place in Santa Fe on November 1 - 3, 2024. 


Review Santa Fe is a conference for photographers and lens-based artists seeking audience expansion, critical discussion, and community connection. One of the oldest juried portfolio review events in the U.S., Review Santa Fe, enters its 23rd year in 2024. The Review Santa Fe Photo Symposium will take place in the Santa Fe Railyard at the Farmers’ Market Pavilion and includes a wealth of programming, like workshops, portfolio reviews, mentorships, and the main Portfolio Walk and Book Fair event, which is open to the public. Saturday evening, Nov 2, the event has a 1-hour VIP event at 4:30 pm and will open to the public from 5:30-8 pm. This year, Review Santa Fe programming includes two workshops, “Preparing for Portfolio Reviews” and “Working with a Curator” for participating artists.

CENTER is a local arts organization founded in Santa Fe that has operated here for 30 years. CENTER advances the legacy of photography at home in New Mexico by supporting local photographers and projects. This year, CENTER celebrates 30 years of advancing the photographic arts and supporting a diverse community of artists. For three decades, CENTER has supported projects connecting us to visual storytelling's global language. CENTER is best known for supporting the photography community with outstanding awards, grants, fiscal sponsorships, and programs, including Review Santa Fe.

CENTER creates an artistic education and exploration hub with the Review Santa Fe Photo Symposium. 
Review Santa Fe is a conference for photographers and lens-based artists seeking audience expansion, critical discussion, and community connection. With Review Santa Fe, CENTER brings together huge art world names, including editors from Huff Post, Wired, other significant publications, curators from major institutions, and acclaimed photographers.

This year, Review Santa Fe brings esteemed professionals from institutions across the country including Mitra Abbaspour (Curator & Head of Modern & Contemporary Art, Harvard Art Museums), Kate Bubacz (Lead Photo Editor, News, The Wall Street Journal), Jehan Jillani (Visuals Editor, The Atlantic), Jessie Wender (Photo Editor, The New York Times), Alisa Swindell (Associate Curator of Photography, Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College), and Yechen Zhao (赵也尘)( Assistant Curator, Photography & Media, Art Institute of Chicago). Local art experts will also review portfolios, including Anne Kelly (Gallery & Shop Manager, Historic Santa Fe Foundation), and Christian Waguespack (Head of Curatorial Affairs & Curator of 20th Century Art, New Mexico Museum of Art).

By making Santa Fe a gathering place where world-class art professionals and local art excerpts unite, CENTER’s Review Santa Fe programs serve the local community and strengthen Santa Fe’s identity as an artistic destination. This year’s Review Santa Fe Photo Symposium provides a beautiful way for local community members and artists to engage with CENTER’s outstanding programs.
