Visura Founder Launches “Disrupted” — A Short Documentary Film Highlighting the Crisis in Visual Journalism
visura blog
Jun 23, 2025
For the past two years, Adriana Teresa Letorney, founder of Visura, has been quietly working on a deeply personal project: Disrupted — a new documentary short film and resource hub that shines a light on the declining state of the media industry and its profound impact on freelance visual journalists.

The 31-minute film, self-funded with support from the University of Syracuse and NYU Leslie eLabs, urgently explores how media instability threatens journalism and the health of our democracy. Alongside the film, the Disrupted platform features a curated directory of organizations supporting visual journalists around the world.
