Disrupt(ed) —disrupted.visura.co—is a short film that reveals a hard truth: professional visual journalists and storytellers, most of whom are freelancers, struggle to survive in the industry they serve. Many are being pushed out of this critical profession.

Visual journalists play a vital role in a healthy democracy. Through verified, ethical, and skillfully created imagery, they hold power to account and help us see the world — and each other — more clearly. When these professionals are squeezed out, what fills the void are unverified images that lack context, standards, and trust.

This isn’t just a loss for journalism — it’s a loss for all of us. What we see shapes what we believe. And what we believe shapes how we act as a society.
