These images were created in collaboration with the Natural Resource Governance Institute from a joint project documenting mining in Myanmar. The mining operations shown in the following images are located in the Mandalay region, and although there are many health and environmental risks associated with the lack of standardized mining practices, it is also important to note that the wealth it brings to the area enables many children to attend school for free.
