Days of silence
2011 - in process.
It is my first personal work that combines between text and image a first-person account of my days as a local journalist in Veracruz and the aftermath that these events left in my life as I faced death on a daily basis between 2011 and 2015. In those years the drug war raged in Veracruz coincidentally with the beginning of my career as a photojournalist. In those years the murders of the civilian population increased being 2011 the most violent year for Veracruz for 20 years; and likewise state censorship increased by which in this period 17 journalists were killed; among them colleagues and friends who were also reporting this war.
These years together with these violent events marked my life, diminished my physical safety, and also damaged my psychological health for a long time. I have never been able to talk about it, so I have constructed this story to tell my story and to make memory.
