Claudia Rivera, doctor at her work in Santiago de Maria. She is the director of the hospital. And came back to El Salvador after growing up in the US. Claudia Rivera left Intipucá as a child because of the 1980s war in El Salvador. She began a life in Maryland in Washington with her parents and brothers, however after graduating as a doctor and her children grew up she decided to return to El Salvador in order to help the health development of her people. Welcome to Intipucá City es un proyecto documental transmedia basado en la fotografía sobre la migración salvadoreña y su relación con los Estados Unidos, que hace foco en el sitio que se deja. Relata las complejidades psicológicas, antropológicas y sociológicas de la migración entre El Salvador y los Estados Unidos, desde 1968 hasta el presente, a partir de la historia de una pequeña ciudad, única pero universal: Intipucá, al sur de El Salvador.El proyecto nace en 2017 con el deseo de trabajar de manera colectiva.

Koral Carballo, fotógrafa mexicana, Anita Pouchard Serra, fotógrafa franco-argentina y Jessica Ávalos, periodista salvadoreña, todas estrechamente vinculadas al tema de la migración a través de sus historias familiares y personales, inician el proyecto gracias a la beca ADELANTE del International Women’s Media Foundations.Se trata de un equipo transdisciplinar: 3 mujeres, 3 territorios, 3 visiones y 3 experiencias profesionales y personales complementarias y diferentes. Convencidas de la importancia de esta mezcla y de trabajar en equipo para hablar de las migraciones. Un cruce de puntos de vista, distintas disciplinas y conocimientos para producir una historia compleja sobre un tema tan delicado.

Welcome to Intipucá City is a transmedia documentary project based on documentary photography which deals with the Salvadoran migration and its relationship with the USA, focusing on the place left instead of the place of arrival. It recounts the psychological, anthropological and sociological complexities of migration between El Salvador and the United States, from 1968 to the present. From the history of a small city, unique but universal: Intipucá, which is situated at the South of El Salvador.

From this continuous and diverse approach, the project Welcome to Intipucá City started in 2017 with the desire to embrace collective work, accompanied by Koral Carballo, a Mexican photographer, Anita Pouchard Serra, a French-Argentinian photographer and Jessica Ávalos, a Salvadoran journalist. All of them closely linked to the subject of migration through their families and personal history. The project started thanks to the ADELANTE fellowship from the International Women’s Media Foundation.

A transdisciplinary team: 3 women, 3 territories, 3 visions, and 3 complementary and different professional and personal experiences. All convinced of the importance of this mix and to work as a team to talk about migrations. Crossing point of views, disciplines and knowledges to be able to produce a complex story on a so delicate topic.
