High rise apartments create an abstract pattern of concrete and half-lit apartments in the rapidly expanding city of Shanghai, China, in an attempt to house the large influx of immigrants who flock to this urban center by the thousands. In the process, older houses and neighborhoods are often bought out and built over for more modern developments.
